“And how exactly does Edsel Talbert know about me?” I leaned against the pantry wall and wound the phone cord around my wrist. “I never gave you permission to contact him.” Even though this was a fantastic opportunity, I couldn’t resist giving Hemi a hard time.

“I called the publisher of Close Encounters in the USA to ask for an address to write him in case you changed your mind. I left my information, and word must’ve gotten out that I knew someone with a story. I had no idea that Edsel lives in Indianapolis, or that he’d show up—”

“You expect me to drop everything and run over to your house?”

“Like I dropped everything the other night to help you search the woods?”

“Touché.” I grinned.

He chuckled. “Should I tell him to leave?”

“Oh no. I’ll be right over.”
